Product comparisons in the B2B environment – A production and trading company of medical technology products implements Cedura’s Market Intelligence System for detailed, technical product comparisons.

This system should enable the display of the customer’s own products as well as those of competitors, showing their respective specifications and combinations of machines, components, and accessories, making them comparable.

During a tour of the customer’s production facilities, Cedura gained an understanding of the products, their manufacturing process, and the combination possibilities of the machines and accessories to understand the customer’s specific requirements for a product comparison.

The major challenge was to standardize the company’s machines and combination possibilities with the corresponding accessories and those of competitors, structuring them so they can be compared independently of the manufacturer in a product comparison. About 300 products with approximately 250 different features were defined in addition to product groups.

Existing product and accessory data from the customer were combined with researched data of competitors’ products and transferred into the CedDecider in a structure coordinated with the customer.

Through continuous coordination with the customer and fine-tuning of the requirements, the project was handed over to the customer within a quarter.

The customer is now able to:

  • Compare their existing products and product accessories with those of their competitors
  • Set and analyze specifications of products against each other
  • Statistically evaluate changes to the product/accessories over time
  • Immediately incorporate new products and accessories into the product comparison.
  • Integrate additional product groups, products, and specifications

With the product module of the CedDecider Market Intelligence System, the client now has deep and always up-to-date market transparency.

The insights from this transparency can thus provide a decisive competitive advantage in sales arguments, portfolio management, and the ability to act in response to changing customer needs.
